When a slewing drive is used insolarenergy industry, users have to choose an ideal one according to the actual area ofsolarpanels. Broadly speaking, 3 inch slewing drive is suitable forsolarpower system coming with 3- 5 m2solarpanel, 7 inch for 10-17 m2solarpanel, 9 inch for 18-30 m2, 12 inch for 31-45 m2, and 14 inch for 46-60 m2. A slewing drive is usually composed of a slewing ring, worm, casting housing, and standard components like bearing and bolts, etc. While used in photovoltaic power generation system, the slewing drive is usually used in combination with DC planetary speed reducer motor and AC speed reducer motor. While used in engineering equipment, it is regularly used in combination with hydraulic motor to function as power driving system.

Vertical installation
It is advised to mount the slewing drives referring to attached drawing upside in solar applications for better protection.
For other applications, the mounting directions shall be based on the evaluation of the protection level and it shall be better for better protection.
Horizontal installation

Slewing drives are ideal for jobs that require both load-holding and rotational torque from the same gearbox. The fully-enclosed SE comes with Kinematics’ patented hourglass worm technology, or cone drives and double enveloping worm gearsets where required, for maximum load-holding and efficiency. Each SE is rigorously tested for reliable performance, with base model sizes producing 6kNm to 2200kNm of holding torque, 200Nm to 630kNm of output torque, 500Nm to 2710kNm of overturning moment load capacity, and gearbox reduction ratios of 30:1 up to 156,600:1.

Glossary

Tilting Moment Torque:Torque is the load multiplied by distance between the position of load and the center of slewing bearing. If the qorque generated by load and distance is greater than the rated tilting moment torque, slewing drive will be overturned.

Radial load:Load vertical to the axis of slewing bearing

Axial load:Load parallel to the axis of slewing bearing

Holding torque:It is the reverse torque.When the drive is rotating reversely, and parts are not damaged,The maximum torque achieved is called holding torque.

Self-locking:Only when loaded, the slewing drive is not able to reverse rotate and thus called self-locking.
